ALROSA sold large diamonds at an auction in Vladivostok for $ 17 million

ALROSA, the world’s largest diamond mining company, sold large diamonds of special sizes (over 10.8 carats in weight) at an international auction in Vladivostok, which was held from June 18 to 29, 2018.

The company received a total revenue of $ 17 million from the sale of 121 jewelery stones of a total mass of 2,000 carats.

Companies from Russia, Hong Kong, Belgium, Israel, India, the United Arab Emirates, the People’s Republic of China and the United States participated in the auction. Winners in different positions were recognized by 36 firms.

“The results of the last auction once again confirm that Vladivostok today is a successfully developing center of the Russian diamond business. In our trades here are clients from different countries, including from China and the United States, leading in the consumption of jewelry with diamonds. The June auction ended with a good premium to the starting price – it was exceeded by 1.8 times, “Yevgeny Agureev, member of the board, director of ESO ALROSA, commented on the results of the auction.

The ALROSA branch in Vladivostok was established in 2016 by a decision to develop the Eurasian diamond center on the territory of the Free Port of Vladivostok. The first diamond sales on the EAC site were conducted by the branch in August-September 2016.

In 2017 at auctions and tenders in Vladivostok stones were realized for a total of more than $ 70 million. At the first in 2018, a special-sized diamond auction, which took place in May, the proceeds from the sale amounted to $ 14.8 million. By the end of 2018, ALROSA will hold more two auctions in Vladivostok – in September and November.
